  • Music Technology Assembly 2017

    The Hicksville Middle School PTSA sponsored a music technology assembly for grades 6-8. Artist Brent Daniels provided students with an interactive program that demonstrated how simple sounds can be transformed into music using technology.

    Middle school students from grades 6 through 8 were recognized for their nominations to the Heart + Motivation= Success board which can be found in the “Hall of Recognition” near the main lobby.

  • M.S. Glow Dance

    The gym was transformed into a glowing arena at the March Glow Dance. Students displayed their creativity to maximize their glow. An amazing time of fun and dancing was had by all.

  • Jazz Concert

    The Hicksville Middle School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Giacomini, performed in a special concert featuring both the middle and high school jazz ensembles. The concert was held in the Bernard H. Braun Auditorium at the middle school.

  • Souper Bowl Fundraiser

    Hicksville Middle School students and staff generously contributed to our Souper Bowl Fundraiser to benefit local food pantries. Many thanks to all who donated to those in need. Congratulations to our raffle winners Mikayla, Randy, and Theresa.

  • Spirit Day 2016

    Hicksville Middle School students and staff celebrated their spirit by participating in special activities throughout the day. Based on their Home Base Advisories, students were assigned to the Blue, Red, and Green teams. Thanks to the planning efforts of Mr. Stueber, Ms. Klimuszko, Mr. Essigman, and Ms. Mastrantonio, students engaged in a wide variety of well organized and fun events. Spirit Day was a great way to end the year and celebrate the anticipation of 2017.

  • Mandarin Classes Visit Chinatown 2017

    Hicksville Middle and High school Mandarin classes extended their classroom experiences to NYC’s Chinatown by immersing themselves in the Chinese language and culture.

  • Valentine's Day Thoughtfulness for Veterans

    Ms. Hoover's and Ms. Giovagnoni's Home Base advisory groups created duct tape flower pens and Valentine's Day cards for veterans. Two baskets of hand-made pens and cards were delivered to a VA home on Valentine's Day and were very well received by the veterans.

  • Robotics Competition 2017

    After months and countless hours of preparation and practice, the Hicksville Middle School robotics teams, led by Ms. Temps and Ms. Brucato, competed at the First Lego League Regional Qualifiers in January. The theme for the competition was Animal Allies.

    This year 6th, 7th and 8th grade students participated in the American Mathematics Competition. There were five students who placed at the building level.

  • Home Base Shines at the Middle School

    The Hicksville Middle School Home Base Advisories enjoyed the holiday season by creatively decorating their classroom doors and hallways. Each advisory team worked together to create their own designs.

  • Book Fairies 2017

    Through the National Junior Honor Society, the Book Fairies paid a visit to HMS this year. The Book Fairies are an organization that collects books of all age groups and distributes them to students in need on Long Island.

  • Walk for a Cause 2017

    This year Mr. Tussie conducted his annual "Walk for a Cause" event to support ACDS - the Association for Children with Down Syndrome. The event also served to unite the school community and to bring awareness to Down Syndrome. Hicksville Middle School staff and students participated in the walk and raised $1000.00 for ACDS.

  • “Have Fun for a Cause” Recreation Night and Dance 2017

    Students attended the “Have Fun for a Cause Recreation Night and Dance” on Friday, January 13th. Students had a fun time playing games like ping pong, nok hockey, arcade and nerf basketball, beach ball volleyball, bowling, bean bag toss, checkers, chess, and Connect Four.

    Students from Ms. Biedenbach’s and Ms. Ryan’s classes were Fire Prevention Poster Contest winners for the middle school.

  • Geography Bee 2017

    Each year students display their knowledge of geography in the National Geographic Geography Bee. Hicksville Middle School students competed in the bee, which was coordinated by social studies teacher, Mr. Kerley.

    The finals of the building level Spelling Bee were recently conducted on January 21st. Twenty-five students qualified to compete in the final round.

Important Announcements

  • Petitions for School Board Seats Available

    3 seats on the Hicksville School District Board of Education will be expiring on June 30th. Any Hicksville resident interested in running for the 3 year term may pick up a petition from the District Clerk on weekdays from 8:30-4:30 at the school district office. The deadline for returning petitions is April 17.  The New York State School Board Association has provided a document for prospective school board members outlining the Board members' responsibilities and the election process.  For more information, call the District Clerk at 516-733-2104.
