School Social Workers
School social workers are available to work with students and their families in each school in the district.  Social workers provide group and individual counseling services to students who are experiencing difficulites that interfere with their ability to adjust to the school setting.  School social workers can function as a liasion between the school and the family.  In consultation with the school staff and family, school social workers assist in creating plans for students targeted to their individual needs, for example, in the areas indicated below:
  • crisis intervention
  • transitions
  • maintaining peer and adult relationships
  • conflict mediation
  • stress managment
  • promoting appropriate social behaviors
  • child abuse and neglect
  • depression and suicide prevention
  • at risk behaviors
