School social workers can connect students and their families with a variety of resources that can assist them in identifying mental health resources, medical resources and financial resources to meet their needs. School social workers can act as liasions with other agencies upon receipt of written parental consent and permission. School support staff as well as teachers may identify students with needs that may be eligible for assistance from outside agencies. Parents may contact the school social worker at their child's school building with specific concerns.
