On Wednesday, March 1, the Hicksville High School Ecology Club hosted Matt Rizzo, a representative from the Grassroots Environmental Education Organization. It was an interesting discussion about where our water comes from, how human behavior is having a negative impact on our water supply and what we can do to help keep our water safe. It was a very interesting discussion and a lot was learned by all who attended. He spoke about superfund sites, contamination plumes on Long Island and legislation that is designed to mitigate existing damage, while preventing further damage into the future. This was Matt's second visit this year to speak about preserving our water supply and his 6th visit to Hicksville High School.
