In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, the students in Burns Avenue participated in their very own "Souper Bowl." As part of a program run by the Burns Avenue Student Council, students were asked to donate cans of soup for needy families. Students who participated in the program deposited cans of soup in barrels that were labeled Falcons and Patriots, depending on which team they wanted to win this year's Super Bowl. After counting all of the donated cans, the Student Council found out that a large majority of students wanted the Atlanta Falcons to win this year's Super Bowl. All of the soup will be donated to Long Island Cares, a charitable organization that provides food to needy families on Long Island.
Thanks are offered to all of the students who participated in our Souper Bowl. Thanks are also extended to Mrs. Butler and Mrs. Homatas, the coordinators of the Burns Avenue Student Council, for running this worthwhile program.
